Mr Eazi release his new single “London Town” pi. Giggs
Mr. Eazi, born as Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, grew up in Lagos. After high school, he relocated to Kumasi, Ghana, where he studied mechanical engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Mr Eazi is a Ghanaian-based performer known for pioneering Banku music, a sound R&B-influenced Afro-beat sound “characterized by percolating rhythms and laid-back vocal delivered in Ghanaian Pidgin English”.
Mr Eazi’s music largely fits into the category of Afrobeats, a contemporary West African pop genre that marries global pop, highlife, and hip-hop. Mr Eazi’s music has been described as having an R&B-like quality reminiscent of artists such as Beres Hammond and Gregory Isaacs. Lawrence Burney from Noisey.com stated that Mr Eazi uses his deep voice to “give ballad-like qualities to dance-forward production”.
Dans 2012, he launched his musical career with the single “Pipi Dance.” based on himself. A year later, he collaborated with the U.K.-based DJ Juls on the track “Bankulize” (featuring Pappy Kojo). The single caught on and more high-profile recordings followed, including 2015’s “Skin Tight” (featuring Efya), which also performed well, garnering thousands of views online. Later , in July 2013, Mr Eazi released his 13-track debut mixtape, About to Blow. From there he collaborated on tracks with Sarkodie, Lil Kesh, Garçon Burna, and others. Despite his success, Mr. Eazi was denied participation in the 2016 Ghana Music Awards because he was not a Ghanaian citizen. Nonetheless, that same year he signed with the Starboy Worldwide record label.
Mr Eazi’s been a busy guy lately. Earlier in the year, he released his project Life Is Eazi Vol. 1 — Accra To Lagos which featured guest appearances by Big Lean, Tekno, Phyno, DJ Cuppy, and others and made waves across the world. Included on the album were the singles “Leg Over” et “Tilapia.” The album debuted at number four on the Billboard World Albums chart. ~ Matt Collar. The singer who recently announced his international deal with Columbia records is also working on his second mixtape titled “Lagos To London”, the follow up to February’s project with, Life Is Eazi Vol. 2.
Lagos To London, will have this song acting as the lead single. Featuring a rougher edge than his glossy sound usually accomodates, he’s joined on Da Beatfreakz-produced riddim by none other than Peckham legend Giggs, an English rapper from London, who adds another strong guest verse to his catalogue. Maintenant, the Nigerian singer checks in with Nathaniel Thomson, better known by his stage name Giggs, for the first single off the project, “London Town.”
Mr Eazi has been slowly taking over the airwaves with his afrocentric sound and now he’s back and connects with Giggs for their new collaboration on “London Town.” The new song has that reggae dance-hall feel, is an upbeat track with an infectious melody provided by Mr Eazi, seems like a lot has changed on his music since his last mixtape. pendant ce temps, Giggs’ gritty voice comes through to set the tone at the top of the track. Mr Eazi taps DaBeatFreakz, who have worked with Giggs on several occasions, for the production on the track.
