The Carters dropped an entire surprise joint album “Everything is Love” and video for “Ape Sh*t”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z just caused an uproar dropping an entire surprise joint album “Everything is Love” without any announcement or hype whatsoever. Everything Is Love abruptly hit Tidal on Saturday afternoon (July 16) under the name The Carters. Because it’s not like music’s most powerful couple needs album promo anyway!
Rumors about a Bey and Jay collaborative album had long swirled, and they escalated in March when the couple announced their joint stadium trek, On The Run II. The tour kicked off earlier this month in the U.K. and begins its North American leg on July 25. Looks like fans are going to have a lot of new music to get them hyped before then.
The couple is currently on their ‘OTR II tour.’ Beyonce told the crowd there was “something special” for them, and then showed the video for “Ape Sh*t,” according to BuzzFeed News. “Album out now” then appeared on the screen. The tour will run through Europe and North America as well as make pitstops in the U.S. Beyonce recently headlined the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, in April with a show-stopping set that fans branded “Beychella.”
This is not their first unnoticed album. In 2013, Beyonce released the self-titled album “Beyonce” without any notice.
The collaborative album spans nine songs, clocks in at just over 38 minutes, and features both Bey and Jay on every track. The Carters also offered the project’s first video for “APESH*T.” The cinematic vid was shot on location at The Louvre in Paris, and was teased by Beyoncé on Instagram.Only JAY-Z and Beyoncé could take over The Louvre in Paris, France during the height of social media’s dominance and keep their video rollout a secret.
One of those cuts, “APESHIT,” already has a full-length music video directed by Ricky Saiz at The Louvre in Paris. The song will undoubtedly create conversation due to Jigga’s decision to address Donald Trump, last February’s Grammy shutout and saying “hell no” to a Super Bowl performance.
Nel filmato, Hov and Queen Bey hit up the historic art gallery with their performance before iconic art. With dancers lining the Augustinian-inspired hallways of The Louvre, the Carters remind corporate America just how thorough they are as they address NFL and Grammy’s.
The album touches on the rapper’s disgust at this year’s Grammy Awards and features a shout out from their daughter Blue Ivy to her siblings. The album features Beyonce rapping on songs more than she has done on previous releases.
In “Ape Sh*t,” Jay-Z lashes out at the Grammys. He was the top nominee at February’s awards show, but left empty-handed. The rapper also says he turned down the NFL halftime show, rapping that the league needs him more than he needs them.
“I said no to the Superbowl/You need me, I don’t need you/Every night we in the end zone/Tell the NFL we in stadiums too/Last night was a fucking zoo/Stagediving in a pool of people/Ran through Liverpool like a fucking Beatle/Smoke gorilla glue like it’s fucking legal/Tell the Grammy’s fuck that 0 for 8 shit,” raps Jay Z.
JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s new “Ape Sh*t” visual is finally out for the masses. After coming out as a TIDAL exclusive, the Carters have now released the video globally.
