SafOne & Capo lee New Video “Know Where Im From”
Last year, SafOne and Capo Lee teamed up for the excellent “Gyal From Brum”, going back and forth on a skippy J Beatz production, but its potential success was rather stunted by some court troubles Saf found himself in shortly after. With that all long resolved, the pair have linked up again to recreate the magic for this summer. “Know Where I’m From” is produced by J Beatz, with the two MCs having a laugh with their dancing once more in the Shan Brown-directed music video, which has gone up on Link Up TV.
SafOne and Capo Lee have formed a powerful partnership within the Grime scene, and have featured on a number of bangers together. Now we have another one, just in perfect time as we approach the summer season. On their new track, SafOne and Capo Lee trade flows and bars by going back-to-back on bouncy grime instrumental. The colourful visuals reflect the fiery lyrics offered by Safone and Capo Lee, and show both MCs turning up in a skate park.
“Know Where I’m From” comes as the follow up to “Gyal From Brum”, and this time round we see the duo body a Grime instrumental from the talented, J Beatz. The heavy new hit was premiered on BBC Radio 1Xtra with Grime OG, Sir Spyro. It had the listeners going crazy, calling for the official release, and less than 24 hours later the track was at our disposable, and is already doing up numbers.
Capo Lee only took up music seriously in 2015. It was a chance break on a free compilation that gave credence to the idea that he could make it, and since that moment, he’s never really looked back. Capo is the latest in a long line of grime MCs who have broken through over the past years, but unlike many of those on the come-up, his laid-back persona, he also has a gift for hooks — a staple of some of grime’s most memorable tracks through the years, has already score two sizeable underground hits in Liff and the single, Mud.
Safone’s real name is Saphan Robinson. Hailing from Handsworth, his music is regularly played on Radio 1 and he has attracted thousands to shows across the UK. He is one of a rising tide of artists who have risen to fame online and broken through to the more mainstream broadcasters.
The Brummie rapper has become one of the best known faces in the UK grime scene in recent years. SafOne was recently shot for a second time in less than a year, this time in the thigh, with the bullet lodging in his backside. He was shot in the chest by a gunman in the same area of the city on July 9 last year but survived his injuries.
Just an hour after the Birmingham Mail revealed he was the victim of that shooting, the Radio 1 star posted a picture on his own Instagram showing him on a stretcher.
With recent assertions that ‘Grime is dead’, what better way to prove them wrong by a heavy grime release consisting of hard flows and a jumpy beat by J beatz. The pair are back to do a tune together on a J Beatz refix of their previous tune “Gyal From Brum”.
